I already told you I spent a couple of days in the fashion capital last week, right? Two days of Paris, two days of tradeshows. I saw a lot. A LOT. Some things I loved, others just… Meh. I thought I’d share some of my experience with you guys. Why in English? Well. I just wanted to give it a shot. Also, I think these things are a bit more international and I want to share this with the interwebs!
One of my favourites of this trip was the Mark Holden stand. The booth caught my eye, and my hands just followed. Suuupersoft scarves and cutsie prints. I’d never heard of this brand, but OMG. I’m sold.
I’ve mentioned this on my blog before, but I’m a sucker for bracelets. I said then that this is my biggest weakness. Now I think I might need to adjust my previous statement, or well. Alter it slightly. I’m a sucker for bracelets and scarves. I have a sizeable collection, and I dare say I know my scarves. Jep. There. I said it. I know about scarves.
Now, what is the prerequisite of a good scarf? Softness! And warmness as well, but for me the main thing is that it needs to be soft. NEEDS TO BE. Mark Holden seems to know just what the perfect scarf feels like. His collection consists of colourful designs, made of a mixture of silk and modal. Silk is soft. Add some modal to the mix and wow. Heavenly!
ABOUT THE BRAND
The brand was created by Mark Holden, who has a strong connection with the beautiful peace sign. He incorporates this into every one of his designs. At first it confused me, because well. For our generation, the strength of it just got a bit lost in translation. We know it, we recognize it, but we don’t really get it. That is, until I watch his fashion video. This really pulled me in. It reminded me of how it does not just represents peace. It means a lot of things, to a lot of different people. According to Mark, it is about things such as inner peace, and making peace with your family.
The other thing that makes this such a strong symbol is how simple it actually is. It’s design consists of no more than a circle and a few lines. In my opinion, after having had the complete explanation behind the sign, it just makes it so much stronger. You don’t need a lot of glitter and booyah to have something mean a lot, to have something stand out.
I’m not as good as Mark Holden in explaining what his brand is about, so if you’re curious, check out his Fashion Video, explaining all about the peace sign and how it changed everything.
I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Mark Holden during Paris Fashion Week, and it felt good. He’s a very very nice, gentle person, and it just felt right, you know. Sometimes you meet someone and you know that this is a good person, and I genuinely believe he is trying to do his part in bettering the world, in creating these beautiful pieces and making others aware.
That’s it for today, but I’ll be posting another blog on this brand very soon, I want to share my favourites with you guys!
Thanks for reading!
Have great daaay! x
